Yup, things are sure hot in sunny California and not only because of the weather but also because of Apple WWDC 2008. As Steve Jobs himself noted, it is the biggest Apple conference ever. Over 100 sessions and about as many labs all focusing on iPhone, Mac or IT.

Monday

The big news were that the guru-of-it-all, cool guy in sweater, jeans and knickers, namely Steve Jobs, gave a keynote. Now it is no news what he said, but just to repeat all that:

- iPhone will spread to 72 countries this years, most of the European countries will get their iPhone on July 11

- it is not just an iPhone, it is 3G device, with GPS, faster speed, thinner apparatus and much much more

- oh and 8 GB version will only cost $199

- new OS – Mac OS 10.6 will come next year, it is going to be called Snow Leopard. And it will have 0 new features! Oh sorry, one new feature – possibility to work with Microsoft Exchange, but! the new OS will also have this little something called Grand Central Dispatch. In a few words, faster simultaneous processes, also it will be able to work with 64-bit images

- Something called MobileMe is launched – www.me.com . It is synchronous Mail, iCal, Address book. And by synchronous we mean really synchronous. Change it on iPhone, it will immediately change on your computer

- iPhone applications. iPhone platform is now so advanced, that it allows users to build their own, Cocoa-based application. And it is very easy, I have tried it myself

- There will be a special App Store, where everyone will be able to purchase and upload own iPhone application

- Push notifications. Even if you are far far from your computer, you can still receive that you are wanted on Skype – people can send you messages, transferred to you via nearest wireless network

And much much more. You should have seen excitement on the faces and crowd cheering.

Tuesday

Not as hot as Monday. Still, iPhone application development sessions have started, also a Cocoa lab. People are migrating, Apple T-Shirts are sold, free smoothies served. Enormous crowd of 5200 participants flowing around. The only thing not overcrowded – Ladies bathroom.

All in all, the atmosphere is very inspiring, Apple specialists are extremely nice, people sit on the floor freely, and so far, this is the greatest gathering of Apple logos all over the place – Apple laptops of different kinds, iPhones, labelled T-shirts, posters, give-aways.

This is amazing.

Narinder Pabila presents sofas and cushions, as well as everyday objects in all sizes covered with soft material. Pabila describes her idea: “I was looking at how people comfort themselves, for example, when anxious or depressed, and how comfort is gained through various different objects.

The overall concept is for creating a relationship between the individual and the object that adapts into modern daily living.”

Tom Pande has most unusual installations – recycled books, processed “Hooj” label records and much more.

Another beautiful hanging creation from Klein Dytham in Tokio. A 20m long hanger rail to show the entire collection of one season was required. This is housed in a black tube running along the only 20m straight line on the site, which extends out over the entrance driveway.

This time Creamfields was held in a Polish city Wroclaw, a very nice town with around 800 000 inhabitants.

Everything is really cheap there, compared with prices in more developed European cities. But so nice! Food more delicious and people smile more too.

Wroclaw is around 1000 years old, which left a certain imprint on its culture and architecture, which amazes.

The festival was held in the outskirts of the city and featured such famous names as The Prodigy, Vitalic, Above & Beyond, Axwell, Dieselboy, Jeff Mills, DJ Hype, Steve Angello, Chris Liebing, Ronski Speed,Flash Brothers, Christopher Lawrence, Hardy Hard, Eddie Halliwell, David Crystal, Armin Van Buurenn and others.

A separate area was arranged for beer drinking and bungee jumping, which helped people to remain sober too, as only beer was sold (Very tasty beer nevertheless).

Apart from being a bit chilly, the party was great throughout the night.
